The concept of home, both as a place and as a feeling, plays a central role in contemporary art. The exhibition and accompanying publication, at home, bring together over 30 works—including paintings, photographs, drawings, videos, sculptures, and installation — by around 20 contemporary artists. The works address themes such as the dream of owning a home, the loss of a home, the housing market, the connection between living and owning a home, and the idea of home as a place of both family and loneliness. They also explore the existential human need for a place to sleep. Sometimes playful and cheerful, sometimes socially critical, and occasionally autobiographical, the works offer multi-layered perspectives on a highly relevant issue that affects us all.
